A history as distinguished as the estate itself
The estate was once the residence of Colonel Jeremiah Colman, a member of the renowned Colman's Mustard family, whose name became synonymous with one of Britain's most iconic food brands. Colonel Colman was a close friend of the Prince of Wales, who later became King Edward VIII.
During the 1930s, the estate welcomed distinguished guests, including King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson, who stayed at the hall on a number of occasions. One of the estate's most treasured features is the magnificent carved stone fireplace, presented as a gift by the King, which remains proudly in place today as a lasting reminder of this unique chapter in the estate's history.
